Meet The Medicinal Mushrooms

Chaga (Inonotus obliquus)

Chaga (Inonotus obliquus) is a type of mushroom that grows mainly on birch trees in northern Europe, Asia, Canada, and the northeastern United States.  The mushroom has a hard texture that can be dried, powdered, and used to make Chaga tea, extracts, or tinctures.

*Alternative practitioners believe that Chaga offers numerous health benefits. Among them, Chaga is believed to fight inflammation, lower blood sugar, reduce blood pressure and alleviate arthritis pain.

MAKE CHAGA TEA -  Chaga powder, add a teaspoon to a cup of boiling water, allow it to steep for five minutes, and strain with a fine tea strainer.

Cordyceps (Sinensis)

The most well-known medicinal species is Cordyceps sinensis . The mushroom has a long, finger-like body and is usually a brown or orangish-brown color. The use of Cordyceps Mushroom's are becoming increasingly more popular because of the reported health benefits. *In alternative medicine, cordyceps is often touted as a natural energy booster,  boost athletic  performance, boost libido and said to offer antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits.

Due to the lack of research, cordyceps products of any sort should not be used in children, pregnant women, or nursing mothers.

Visit our shop to purchase our full power Cordyceps tincture, oil and infused honey.

Lion's Mane (Hericium erinaceus)

Lion's Mane mushroom is sometimes called the “smart mushroom,” because they are believed to help support cognitive function, memory, and attention span. Lion's mane mushrooms are edible and can be consumed raw or cooked, but our recommendation is to fully cook. They can also be steeped and consumed in tea or other beverages.

*Lion's mane has a long history of use in TCM. The benefits associated with it are wide-ranging—including everything from boosting immune, weight loss and improving symptoms of depression.

Red Reishi

Reishi Mushroom aka the Lingzhi mushroom has a red, kidney-shaped cap and finger-like spores on its underside rather than gills. The species of Reishi most commonly used for medicine is Ganoderma lucidum.  Because of its bitter taste and woody texture, reishi is not typically used for cooking. However, it is can be used to make tea or medicinal tonics

*Reishi is purported to promote and assist with  better sleep,  anxiety, depression, focus, and immune system issues.

Turkey Tail (Trametes versicolor or Coriolus versicolor)

Turkey tail mushrooms  are medicinal mushrooms.  The active compounds in turkey tail (PSK or PSP) are typically taken in capsule, tincture or tea form.  May assist and boost immune support, gut health, and reduce inflammation.  This awesome medicinal mushroom also has been and continues to be apart of research for it's possible antitumor properties.

Shiitake Mushrooms (Lentinula edodes)

The beta-glucan (a type of soluble fiber) in shiitake mushrooms is useful for cholesterol and inflammation reduction. Shiitake mushrooms are edible and used in different cuisine and have a rich, earthy flavor and a distinctive taste best described as meaty.   Shiitake mushrooms have one of the highest amounts of natural copper, a mineral that supports healthy blood vessels, bones, and immune support. The mushrooms are also a rich source of selenium.
